I am an out of the closet Christian Evangelist who Preaches, Prays, and Sings.
Some of my journey:
I answered the Call to ministry at the age of 19. I was an ordained minister in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. I came out of the closet at the age of 24. I should have come out at the age of 2! I just did not know who to tell!
The Universal Fellowship Of The Metropolitan Community Churches came into my life in Baltimore, MD, in 1974. I fell in love with MCC Baltimore. I fell in love with UFMCC. I fell in love with the fullness of God’s love for me and all people. God picked me up and placed me where I was born to be. I have never regretted this gift from God.
I am in love with Judy K. Kiser. We have been together for more then 22 years. She has been the Ministry Coordinator for 20 years. Judy received the Recognition of Dedication Award in 1993 for exceptional leadership as Chair of White People Healing Racism. Judy has been a member of UFMCC since 1978.
Here is a list of some Awards we have received over the years:
In 2005, at General Conference in Calgary, Alberta, Judy was awarded the Laity Service Award. In 2006, at the UFMCC People of African Descent Conference, I was the first recipient of The Rosa Parks Award.
I received the UFMCC Purple Grass Award for Excellence in Evangelism. I received the Baltimore's Best Citizen's Award. I was one of the Co-founders of the National Coalition of Black Lesbians and Gays. I assisted in organizing the first LGBT march on Washington DC USA. I assisted in organizing the first People of Color LGBT White House Conference USA.
Here are some of the areas of service I have been blessed to be a part of in UFMCC:
District Coordinator of the Mid-Atlantic USA Assistant Pastor of MCC Baltimore, MD USA Pastor of Good Samaritan MCC Norfolk, VA USA Pastor of MCC Peninsula Newport News, VA USA Pastored the above Churches when they merged to become New Life MCC Norfolk, VA USA Pastor of MCC Portland, OR USA Member of the Faith, Fellowship and Order Commission Member of the Inclusive Language Task Force Member of the Elders' Task Force on World Church Extension Executive Committee Member of the Department of People of Color Member of the Elders' Task Force on Evangelism Member of the Board of Ordained Ministries of the Mid-Atlantic District
We are so blessed:
In May of 1988 the Mid-Atlantic District designated the Delores P. Berry Evangelistic Ministries as a Special Work of the District now known as Region 3. This Ministry is under the umbrella of Region 3 USA.
Judy and I have been living the Call of Evangelism full time since 1987. We visit an average of 50 Churches each year.
We travel around the world sharing Jesus’ inclusive message, "God loves all people." God is blessings us! God created all people. God is with all people. God loves Rainbows people too.
We visit Churches that are not MCC's. But, I do not play guess who's coming to dinner. I am out in Jesus' Name!
